This is the shot I never take while out traveling. It seems so unnecessary while you're driving to come to a halt in the middle of nowhere, check your rear-view mirror, open the door and step out into a lonely landscape-only to snap a few frames-checking behind you between frames making sure no one is coming (notice the roof of the car barely visible coming over the first rise in the oncoming lane to the left)-and stand there and let your mind drift for a moment. It seems unnecessary, that is, until you return home and are flipping through your shots and come across that one and think "wow-I'm glad I took that photograph."
Shot on Kodak TMax 100 with Nikon F5, 28-70/2.8 at 1/100sec. at F10. Heliopan Circ. Polarizer.
